Monaco for Verschoor, Ticktum and Verhagen

If you are a teenager seeking motorsports fame you couldn’t be in a better place than the streets of Monaco. So three Red Bull Juniors, Neil Verhagen, Dan Ticktum and Richard Verschoor are perfectly placed and racing twice this weekend in the Formula Renault Eurocup.

Neil Verhagen viewing the place

“For sure it’s cool to be in Monaco,” enthused the 16-year-old American as he walked the  classic circuit. “Not just because of the track but seeing all the super-yachts, the cars and the properties. Like Pau it’s a street circuit but it’s very different. That really was tight and very difficult. Monaco has some more traditional corners, some of the Pau corners were quite strange, of course Monaco is still very demanding but the tarmac is smoother and I think it will be a little easier than Pau.”

“We have very limited track time again and it is going to be crucial to adapt quickly, not make mistakes, get well prepared for qualifying. That’s what is going to count, how quickly you adapt to the track and the conditions,” concluded the MP Motorsport driver.

Dan Ticktum with an eye on the width

“It’s pretty amazing, so great to be here,” stated the 17-year-old Briton. “It’s different and I really think it is quite a bit easier than Pau, walking round it’s surprising how much wider than Pau it is in places. It’s still a street circuit and not wide like a normal Grand Prix track but compared with Pau it is and I think it will be easier.”

“I feel well prepared, I’ve done plenty of laps both in an F1 and a normal sim, I don’t think I could have done more so for me the short free practice time is good, it puts more pressure on the others. It’s still a very hard track there is no doubt about it and I can’t wait to get started,” continued the Arden man. ‘It’s a bit smoother than Pau I think, so the car set-up will be a bit different but not too much.”

Richard Verschoor looking at the possibilities

“Well, I think all the guys are looking forward to it, for me even more,” explained the 16-year-old Dutchman with his usual broad smile. “I would say I am looking forward to this track most of all. I hope to show the real speed we have, or at least some of it and we haven’t been able to do that up to now. Maybe the last qualifying in Pau, we started to but then the broken wing and that was it.”

“There is very little practice time here and I think that’s good for me. I believe I can adapt quickly. There are other guys who have driven here before and they have a bit of an advantage but not too much. It’s another street circuit but with a little more room than Pau and I think it’s a little easier, with some overtaking opportunities that we didn’t have last weekend.”
