Great startposition but no points for Richard Verschoor during first race at Monza
This weekend the second round of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship is driven at the great Italian circuit Monza. After the qualification Verschoor found himself at the fourth position on the starting grid, a great position to fight for the podium positions. At then end of the first race he found himself empty handed, a frustrating beginning of the race weekend for the young Dutch driver.
The 17 year old driver managed to finish fourth during the qualification and kept 24 other drivers behind him. After the start of the race Verschoor overtook one driver but lost the thirth spot during the first round. He kept his position until a safetycar period. After the restart Verschoor lost some time to the top three and other drivers put him under considerable pressure. He lost one place in the first lap after the safetycar and lost another two places several rounds later. Verschoor overtook one of the other drivers with an impressive overtaking maneuver but lost two places several curves later when he went of the throttle in an ultimate attempt to avoid a crash.
Richard Verschoor seemed to finish eight but even that was not granted to him. In the penultimate lap Verschoor went to the pits with technical issues and saw his eight place go up in smoke.
Tomorrow Richard Verschoor gets another chance for a great qualification and race.Tags: Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Formula Renault, Josef Kaufmann Racing, KNAF Talent, KNAF Talent First, Monza Circuit, Richard Verschoor
